In Memory of

Sensei John Lennox, 8th Dan

12/12/18 - 10/30/98   Mudokwan Karate  School,
 Indianapolis, Indiana

The Indianapolis Isshinryu Bushido Club is an extension of Sensei Lennox's teaching. The club was formed by his students at the time of his retirement from active teaching. Sensei Lennox would come to the bushido school for special activities and promotions.

A Martial Arts Master in every respect. His belief was that in Isshinryu as in life. We are all students.

When ask if he was a Master. He always replied with the simple answer.

" I study the Art and I am proud to be called Sensei"

It is to Sensei Lennox that this school and this web-site is dedicated.

Strength and humility were his way of life. At the Mudokwan. Sensei Lennox was as much our Father as he was our Sensei.

Two of his favorite phrases and beliefs he lived by

"The path up the mountain is steep, if it were not steep it would not be a mountain."

and

"Keep It Pure"

Meaning Keep Isshinryu Pure.

He believed that Isshinryu was developed as a powerful functional style and that you should never  compromise the style to what may seem popular at the time.

There was never any doubt with his students, that he loved and believed in Isshinryu more then any other thing in his life.

The Painting above was painted by Sensei Pete Whitaker.

Thank you Pete for the beautiful picture. What a wonderful image of our Sensei
