New Students Please Read Class Time: Our class begins promptly at 6:00pm and ends at 6:45pm for 7-12 year olds… 7:00-8:00pm ages 12 and up. If a student is late to class, out of respect for the dojo, they are required to do or at least attempt to do 10 push-ups. Sign in: Students/parents are required to sign-in on the attendance sheet each time they come to class. For safety: Yours and others. Keep toenails and fingernails cut short…pull hair back…NO JEWELRY… Notify us after class with any special medical/personal needs for you or your child… Karate Uniforms (Gi’s) The uniform is not required for beginning students during your first session. If you do not have a karate uniform! You should wear some type of sweat pants or athletic gear that is loose and fits well in the waist. Karate Uniform ( GI ) If you take a 2nd session. We would like to see you wearing a Karate Gi. For kids without the belt and uniform there is not a place to put stripe promotions & we do not want to see the kids disappointed by not having their stripes. For all students! A Karate Gi is required before consideration for Yellow belt. Karate (Gi) Rules Keep your Gi clean Never wear just a part of the gi. Either wear it all correctly or don't wear it at all. Don't remove clothing in the Dojo and don't throw parts of the Gi on the floor. We sell White Karate Uniforms (Gi’s) for $22.00. Beginners wear white. We will not be offended if you buy it somewhere else. We only supply the gi’s as a convenience to our students. We will have a few Karate Gi’s available at the beginning of each session. We will also take orders the beginning of each session and a few times during the session. We can order other items besides uniforms. It takes about one week on all orders. Dojo Rules (All Students should be know these rules) Promotions: New students white belts. For children! We have 3 stripe promotions. The requirements are such that if a student works. It is likely that they will receive a first stripe during their first session and a second stripe during the second session. It is very difficult to place a time frame onto promotions after the stripe promotions. Some of the techniques required are difficult to learn and correctness is a must, with improvement of form required at each level. White belt stripes are free Yellow belt through Brown belt is $10.00 This allows us to supply the new belt and certificate. The only other promotion fees black belt are for IWKA membership. Isshinryu World Karate Association. This money goes to IWKA headquarters in Okinawa. We do not require I.W.K.A. membership for new students. If you plan on continuing in Isshinryu Karate. The I.W.K.A. membership is recommended, for all continuing students. The IWKA is our sanctioning organization. It is located in Okinawa. For students who plan on continuing Isshinryu. The IWKA membership will be necessary at sometime before black belt. The IWKA membership is $40.00 for a lifetime membership. We keep $5.00 of this for the cost of mailing to Okinawa & an international money order used for payment.
